September 2006 - LPO LeaderPieter Schoeman, concertmaster of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and guest leader of the BBC Orchestra buys new violin, performing the solo of Britten's double concerto for violin and viola and orchestra with the Wiener Konzertverein on September 18, 2006 in Nice, France. February 2006 - Carnegie HallI will have my "Carnegie Hall Debut" in New York City on the 25th of February at 8 00 pm. For further details and booking information click here.June 30 2003 - Violin Performs in GrazThe violin's public performance with Erich Höbarth at the Styriarte Festival in Graz, Austria with the Vienna String Sextet on June 30, 2003.May 2003 - Erich Höbarth plays Violin in Bath FestivalThe Violin had its first public performance at the International Music Festival in Bath at the end of May this year. it was heard in the Assembly Rooms in an all Mozart programme with the violist Hanna Weinmeister (Vuillaume viola) the cellist Heinrich Schiff (Stradivari, 1711) and the pianist Lars Vogt, (Steinway, rand piano model d).The next appearance of this violin will be at Andras Schiff's music festival in Vicenza, Italy, mid June. April 2003 - Violin sold to Erich HöbarthHans Pluhar's most recent violin was just bought by the very prominent violinist Erich Höbarth from Vienna. (leader of the Quatuor Mosaïques, the Vienna String Sextet, the Concentus Musicus and soloist at various music festivals).March 2003 - Genius of the Violin - Violin Making MarathonThe Royal Academy hosts a competition, staged by the British Violin Making Association (BVMA), for international makers of violins and bows. Related to this is a Violin Making Marathon: eminent luthiers will create a replica of Menuhin's 'Lord Wilton' Guarneri del Gesú instrument - complete with a bow - in just 24 hours! I am one of the makers taking part in the marathon.This event is happening from March 29 to March 31 as part of the Festival "Genius of the Violin". There is going to be a radio program on Thursday, April 1 in the interval of the evening performance at 19 30, BBC Radio 3, covering the Violin Making Marathon. Also, at almost the same time, over on BBC Radio 4 at 19 15 on Front Row there will be something on the same subject. Furthermore there are going to be some recordings made on the new violin that is being made in this event for the radio. |
